Ottawa Charge Bolsters Defense with Jessica Adolfsson Signing to 10-Day Agreement
The Ottawa Charge has made a significant move by signing Swedish defenseman Jessica Adolfsson to a 10-day Standard Player Agreement (SPA) in the Professional Women’s Hockey League (PWHL). This exciting announcement was made on January 10, 2025, showcasing the team’s continued commitment to strengthening its roster.
Adolfsson, who hails from Linköping, Sweden, was originally a free agent invite to the Charge’s training camp. She began the season on the team’s Reserve Player List, but now, after earning her spot, she has been given a chance to make an impact on the ice. At 26 years old, Adolfsson brings a wealth of experience from her time playing both collegiate and professional hockey.

Before joining the PWHL, Adolfsson played three seasons at Penn State University, where she served as an alternate captain. Her leadership skills continued to shine during her professional career with Linköping HC in the Swedish Women's Hockey League (SDHL). She stood out as an alternate captain and had a particularly stellar season in 2021-2022, recording 25 points (6 goals, 19 assists) in just 33 games. Her strong performance on the ice is a testament to her abilities, making her a valuable addition to the Ottawa Charge lineup.
Adolfsson's international career is equally impressive. She represented Sweden at the 2022 Beijing Olympics, where she earned one assist in five games. Additionally, she has played in multiple IIHF Women’s World Championships, representing her country in 2017, 2019, and 2022. Her contribution to the 2016 IIHF U18 Women’s World Championship was instrumental in Sweden’s bronze medal win, and she was named a Tournament All-Star for her outstanding play.
As part of her agreement, Adolfsson will suit up for the Charge's upcoming game against the Boston Fleet at TD Place, providing depth to the team as it manages a series of day-to-day injuries. The signing of Adolfsson does not require any other roster adjustments, as the Charge already has 23 players signed to full contracts.
This move marks another chapter in the Ottawa Charge’s strategic approach to building a competitive team. Adolfsson's experience, leadership, and offensive capabilities make her an exciting addition to the roster, and it will be interesting to see how she performs in her upcoming games with the team.
