Pinto’s Game-Winner Lifts Senators Past Maple Leafs in Thrilling Showdown

Midway through the final period, Pinto’s moment came. After a sharp-angled attempt by Matthew Highmore deflected high off a Toronto stick, Highmore managed to bat the puck toward the crease. Pinto, perfectly positioned, redirected it off his knee and into the net, breaking the tie and securing Ottawa’s victory. Reflecting on his goal, Pinto admitted, “I don’t even know how it went in. Just went to the net, and it hit me. It’s nice to get one of those.”

Tim Stutzle, who also found the back of the net during a 4-on-3 power play, praised his team’s resilience. "We haven’t been scoring much lately, but tonight we stuck to our game defensively and got rewarded. It shows that when we play the right way, we can pull through in tight games like this,” he said.
Anton Forsberg stood tall in goal for Ottawa, making 28 saves and keeping the Maple Leafs’ dynamic offense at bay. “We didn’t cheat the game,” Forsberg noted. “We stayed disciplined, and we got the bounce we needed at the end.”
For Toronto, Bobby McMann scored their lone goal early in the first period, but despite solid goaltending from Joseph Woll, who made 21 saves, the Leafs fell short. Coach Craig Berube acknowledged his team’s effort, saying, “We defended hard and competed, but we just didn’t score enough. That bounce late in the game was the difference.”
The Senators have now won four straight games against the Maple Leafs, a streak dating back to 2023.
