Ranieri Prepares Roma for Tough Genoa Challenge, Emphasizes Progress and Focus

Ahead of Roma's upcoming clash with Genoa, Claudio Ranieri, the seasoned manager, took to the press to reflect on his team's journey so far this season. With a grounded perspective, Ranieri spoke openly about the challenges that lie ahead, his focus on tactical improvements, and the importance of maintaining a steady course as the team continues to evolve.

Ranieri acknowledged that his squad is a "work in progress," emphasizing that while Roma has made strides, there’s still plenty of room for growth. With Genoa's compact defense and counter-attacking style under manager Patrick Vieira, Ranieri stressed the need for Roma to be tactically astute, particularly in their defensive responsibilities. "Genoa are a very compact team. They are determined and very good at closing down spaces while exploiting counter-attacks," said Ranieri. "We’ll need to be smart, both in attack and defense, to handle their approach."

The manager also addressed questions surrounding the squad's composition, particularly with respect to key players like Bryan Cristante and Lorenzo Pellegrini. Ranieri confirmed that Cristante was making progress in his recovery and would soon return to full fitness. As for Pellegrini, despite ongoing transfer rumors, Ranieri remained confident that the Roma captain would stay, unless the right offer came through. "I don’t think he’s leaving. That’s my hunch," Ranieri added, giving fans some reassurance.

Ranieri also took the time to praise players like Tommaso Baldanzi and Matias Soulé, who have shown potential despite limited playing time. He highlighted Baldanzi's recent impact as a substitute and expressed faith in Soulé’s future at Roma. "I believe in him, and he’ll get the chance to show everyone he’s improving," Ranieri remarked.

As Roma prepares for Genoa, Ranieri's focus is clear: consistency, tactical discipline, and a commitment to improving match by match. "We’re working hard, but it’s important to be smart on the pitch, not just run for the sake of it," he explained. This mentality reflects his belief that success isn't just about effort, but about smart decisions on the field.

Ranieri's approach is pragmatic, yet optimistic. His focus on building an identity for Roma, while accepting that progress takes time, offers a sense of long-term vision. Fans can expect a steady journey, with Ranieri’s commitment to crafting a team that will proudly represent Roma, regardless of the challenges they face.
