Saad's Natural Hat Trick Powers Blues to 4-0 Victory Over Senators
In an impressive display of skill and dominance, Brandon Saad delivered a natural hat trick, leading the St. Louis Blues to a commanding 4-0 victory over the Ottawa Senators at Enterprise Center on Friday night. With this win, the Blues continued their strong run, having now won four of their last five games, improving their record to 19-17-4. On the other hand, the Senators, who had been riding a hot streak just days ago, fell to 19-17-2, suffering their fourth loss in five games.
The game got off to a fast start with Brayden Schenn putting the Blues on the board early. At 7:26 of the first period, Schenn capitalized on a breakaway, using a slick backhand to beat Senators’ goalie Anton Forsberg, giving St. Louis a 1-0 lead. The Blues were just getting started, and by 15:50 of the first, Saad joined the scoring action. His goal came on another breakaway, where he outraced Ottawa’s Nick Jensen to collect a loose puck and slid it past Forsberg’s legs, making it 2-0.

Saad wasn’t done yet. The second period saw him strike again at 14:15, firing a shot from the left circle that slipped through Forsberg's pads, bringing the score to 3-0. But the true highlight came at 18:07 when Saad completed his natural hat trick, converting on a 2-on-1 rush. His third goal sealed the 4-0 victory, ensuring the Blues would take all the points from this matchup.
Meanwhile, Blues' goaltender Jordan Binnington put on an excellent performance, stopping all 20 shots faced to secure his 18th career NHL shutout. Binnington's sharp play between the pipes was a key factor in this dominant win, and his ability to keep the Senators off the scoreboard was crucial to the team’s success.
Despite Forsberg’s best efforts, making 21 saves in the game, the Senators struggled to find any offense. The loss came on the heels of a disappointing 4-2 defeat against the Dallas Stars the previous night, marking a tough stretch for Ottawa as they play through a season-long nine-game road trip.
For the Blues, this victory marks an important milestone, not only securing two straight wins but also showing their resilience and strong form. With Saad’s hat trick and Binnington’s shutout, the Blues will look to continue their strong play as they move forward in the season, keeping their playoff hopes alive.
