SmackDown Showdown: Drama, Brawls, and Title Defenses Shake Up the WWE Universe!

The January 10, 2025 episode of WWE SmackDown was nothing short of explosive, as intense rivalries reached new heights, and champions fought to hold onto their titles. The night kicked off with a bang, as Undisputed WWE Champion Cody Rhodes was confronted by Paul Heyman, who relayed a chilling message from Roman Reigns. The Tribal Chief announced that he would enter the 2025 Royal Rumble to reclaim his title from Rhodes. But things quickly escalated when Kevin Owens entered the picture, blasting Cody for shaking hands with Roman and Heyman, and further stirring the pot. This led to a wild brawl between Owens and Rhodes that spilled outside the ring, with tables being destroyed in the chaos.

As if that wasn’t enough, we saw some incredible title defenses and matchups that had the fans on their feet. Chelsea Green successfully defended her Women’s United States Championship against the ever-resilient Michin. Despite some interference from Piper Niven, Michin fought back with a series of high-flying moves, but Green managed to secure the win by using underhanded tactics, grabbing Michin’s tights for the pinfall.

In another intense encounter, Shinsuke Nakamura put his United States Championship on the line against the brash LA Knight. What started as a competitive match quickly turned into a chaotic brawl, with both men giving everything they had to take home the win. Nakamura connected with a devastating Kinshasa, but Knight’s resilience allowed him to keep fighting, even with the interference of the New Bloodline. Just as Knight seemed to be on the brink of victory, the chaos continued when Jacob Fatu and Tama Tonga intervened, leading to a disqualification and leaving Nakamura with his title intact.

Not to be outdone, the tag team division was also on fire. Pretty Deadly faced off against Los Garza in a high-stakes battle for a chance at the WWE Tag Team Championships. After a back-and-forth match filled with cheating attempts and outside interference, Los Garza came out victorious, securing a win with their double-team move to continue their path toward a championship opportunity.

And the women’s division was no less intense! In a Fatal 4-Way match, Bayley emerged victorious to claim the No. 1 Contender spot for the WWE Women’s Championship. She triumphed over Nia Jax, Bianca Belair, and Naomi, using the confusion between the other competitors to capitalize on an opening and deliver a Rose Plant on Naomi to secure the win.

But perhaps the most shocking moment of the night came when Jacob Fatu and Tama Tonga defeated Cody Rhodes and Jimmy Uso in an explosive tag team match. Rhodes and Uso fought valiantly, but it was Fatu’s and Tonga’s sheer power and ruthless tactics that led them to victory. With Kevin Owens making his presence felt during the match, the stakes are higher than ever, as tensions between the Undisputed WWE Champion, The Bloodline, and other top Superstars continue to rise.
