Tragic Tesla Cybertruck Explosion at Trump Hotel Involves Army Green Beret, Authorities Say
On January 1, 2025, a tragic event unfolded outside the Trump International Hotel in Las Vegas when a Tesla Cybertruck exploded, killing its driver, Matthew Alan Livelsberger. According to law enforcement sources, Livelsberger, an active-duty Army Green Beret, was the sole occupant of the vehicle at the time of the blast. The explosion occurred early in the morning, just hours after the New Year's Eve celebrations, leaving a trail of confusion and concern about the circumstances surrounding the incident.
Livelsberger, who served as a Special Forces operations master sergeant with the U.S. Army’s 10th Special Forces Group, was on leave from his duties in Germany when the explosion took place. The blast, which occurred directly outside the Trump hotel, sent shockwaves throughout the area, rattling windows even on the higher floors of the building. The explosion was caused by a combination of fireworks, gas tanks, and camping fuel packed into the bed of the Cybertruck, which was detonated by a device believed to have been controlled by the driver.

The FBI is now investigating the possibility that this explosion may be connected to terrorism, particularly due to the high-profile location of the incident and the involvement of a high-tech vehicle like the Tesla Cybertruck. Law enforcement officials have pointed out that the driver’s military background, along with the nature of the explosion, raises further questions. The explosion’s proximity to the Trump International Hotel, the site of political significance, only adds to the complexity of the investigation.
According to a sheriff’s statement, Livelsberger rented the Cybertruck in Colorado on December 28, and it was tracked across several states, including Arizona and New Mexico, before it reached Las Vegas on January 1. Surveillance footage showed the truck driving in front of the Trump Hotel just an hour before the blast, later circling back to detonate in front of the building.
While the cause of the explosion seems to be tied to fireworks and explosives in the vehicle, authorities are still in the process of conducting further tests, including DNA analysis, to confirm the identity of the driver. Despite the severity of the explosion, which could have caused more damage, the Cybertruck’s reinforced body structure helped prevent further destruction. The blast was mostly contained in the truck itself, sparing the hotel from significant structural damage.
This incident follows a similar attack in New Orleans, where a driver with military ties deliberately rammed a truck into a crowd, killing at least 14 people. Authorities are exploring any possible connections between the two events, though they have stated that there is no confirmed link at this time.
The explosion outside the Trump Hotel has left more questions than answers, with authorities working tirelessly to piece together the details of what led to this shocking act. What is clear, however, is the tragic loss of life and the ongoing investigation into this disturbing event.
