New South Wales has been struck by a ferocious storm system that has left devastation in its wake. As of today, nearly 200,000 residents are grappling with power outages, while emergency services are stretched thin addressing widespread destruction. Tragically, one man in his 80s lost his life when a tree fell on his car in Cowra, central west NSW, highlighting the deadly impact of these storms.

The storm unleashed torrential rainfall, intense lightning, and destructive winds. Sydney’s CBD saw 40mm of rain within three hours, while areas like Eurobodalla recorded 63mm in just one hour. Wind gusts reaching up to 110km/h caused trees to fall, roofs to be torn off, and power lines to collapse. The Bureau of Meteorology (BOM) has warned of continued dangerous weather, including flash flooding, hail, and damaging winds, urging residents to stay indoors and prepare for further disruptions.
