AEW Releases Bear Boulder Following Shocking Arrest

Big news coming out of AEW—Bear Boulder, also known as Thomas Wansaw, has been fired from the company after his arrest in January. Reports from Fightful and PWInsider confirm that AEW took swift action upon learning about the situation. Wansaw was charged with battery by strangulation , a serious domestic violence offense, following an alleged incident involving his fiancée.

According to the police report, the incident occurred on January 14th , when a verbal argument escalated into a physical altercation. The alleged victim stated that Wansaw pushed her to the ground and then placed his foot on her throat, causing her to lose consciousness . When she regained consciousness several minutes later, she managed to escape and call 911.

The report also mentions visible injuries on the victim, including red marks and scratches around her neck, as well as bruising on her hand. She later disclosed that this was not the first time Wansaw had been physically violent toward her, claiming it had happened between five to ten times during their relationship. However, she was hesitant to press charges due to financial concerns, even asking law enforcement if recanting her statement could prevent his arrest—which, of course, was not an option.

When confronted by police, Wansaw admitted to the incident, stating that he knew what he did was wrong but reacted in anger after his fiancée made negative comments about his job. He also mentioned that she had pulled a knife on him earlier that day, but he chose not to pursue that matter.

Bear Boulder was a regular presence in AEW and Ring of Honor as part of the Iron Savages alongside Bear Bronson. His last match took place at the ROH tapings on January 11th , just days before his arrest.
