Right now, the Tigers are sitting at No. 1 in the rankings, proving they have the offensive firepower to dominate. But according to Carter, the key to Auburn reaching its championship ceiling isn’t just about scoring—it's all about defense.

Speaking on College GameDay , Carter laid it out plainly: “Auburn has the best offense in the country. I never worry about Auburn offensively. But the Florida game showed that when they don’t execute on defense, it can cost them.” She pointed to Auburn’s recent loss to No. 3 Florida, where defensive breakdowns were the difference. Head coach Bruce Pearl even admitted the team didn’t follow through on their defensive game plan or make the necessary in-game adjustments.
Despite that setback, Auburn quickly bounced back with a dominant win over Vanderbilt. And while some thought the Florida loss might have been a wake-up call, Pearl dismissed the idea that it was some sort of necessary lesson. “Florida was just better that night,” he said. “We didn’t lose because we needed to—we lost because they outplayed us.”
Now, all eyes are on Auburn’s upcoming matchup against their biggest rival, Alabama. This isn’t just any game—it’s a battle between the top two teams in the country.
