Bill Simmons Reveals Which Charlotte Hornets Player Is Untradeable
The Charlotte Hornets are in an interesting position right now. They're not a championship contender, nor are they a team stacked with a plethora of young talent on the rise. In fact, there aren't many players on the roster who are off-limits when it comes to trade talks. However, according to NBA analyst Bill Simmons, there is one player who the Hornets are absolutely not looking to trade: Brandon Miller.
Simmons recently shared his insights on the Hornets' current roster and their tradeable assets. While the team has a few key players they could look to build around—namely LaMelo Ball, Mark Williams, and Miller—Miller stands out as the one player deemed "unequivocally unavailable." The forward, who joined the team as part of their rebuilding efforts, has already made a significant impact and is viewed as a foundational piece moving forward.

On his trade value rankings, Simmons placed Miller in the "Budding Franchise Guys" tier, right alongside notable young talents like Tyrese Haliburton, Jalen Johnson, and Chet Holmgren. This places Miller in a high regard among young players in the league. In fact, he's only a few spots away from the "Only If They Made Us Do It" tier, which signifies a player who is almost untouchable in trade scenarios. The message is clear: the Hornets view Miller as a key component of their future.
While Miller may be untouchable, other players like LaMelo Ball and Mark Williams could still potentially be moved. Ball, in particular, has been the subject of numerous trade rumors, especially with whispers of a move to the Los Angeles Lakers. However, Simmons seems to think that a trade involving Ball is unlikely, although not entirely out of the question. He's placed Ball in a tier that's just one step below the "not available" category, indicating that the Hornets would listen to offers but are not actively shopping him.
Mark Williams, another young piece for the Hornets, is also considered a player of interest but isn’t seen as completely off-limits either. Williams landed in the "Toughest Omissions" tier, which suggests that contending teams may inquire about him, but the Hornets are hesitant to part with him. Simmons has noted that while the Hornets are not likely to take calls on Williams, they might consider it if the right offer comes along.
In the end, it’s clear that Brandon Miller is the cornerstone of the Hornets' future. While LaMelo Ball and Mark Williams still have value and could be involved in trade talks, Simmons' analysis shows that Miller is the player the Hornets want to keep around for the long haul. Whether the team’s strategy pays off in the coming seasons will depend on how well they continue to develop their young stars, but for now, Miller is the untradeable asset the franchise is building around.
