Brace Yourselves, Toronto – Another Major Snowstorm is on the Way!
Toronto is gearing up for yet another significant snowstorm this week, and it looks like it's going to be a wild one. Just as we’re recovering from last Saturday’s heavy snowfall, meteorologists are warning that a midweek storm could bring anywhere from 15 to 25 cm of snow across the city. If you thought winter was winding down, think again!
According to CP24 Meteorologist Bill Coulter, we’re about to face a “midweek monster.” It all begins Wednesday morning with some lake-effect flurries around the west end of Lake Ontario. But don’t let the light snowfall fool you—by late afternoon, the real system snow will start rolling in. By the time we hit midday Thursday, Toronto could be buried under as much as 25 cm of snow. And to make matters worse, strong winds will be in play, gusting up to 60 km/h, making visibility a major concern for drivers and pedestrians alike.
While Friday is expected to be bright and cold, don’t put away those shovels just yet! Another storm system could bring an additional 5 to 10 cm of snow by the end of Saturday. It’s safe to say, this week is shaping up to be a tough one for commuters and anyone with outdoor plans.

For those north of the GTA, the situation is already serious. Environment Canada has issued snow squall warnings for areas like Barrie and Orillia, predicting between 5 to 15 cm of snow. The highest accumulations will happen if lake-effect snow bands lock in place for an extended period. That means reduced visibility, treacherous roads, and potentially dangerous travel conditions. If you’re heading north, be prepared for hazardous driving and delays.
Looking at the forecast for the week, Toronto will see temperatures hovering around -3°C during the day, but the wind chill will make it feel much colder. Monday morning started at a bitter -19°C with the wind, and that freezing trend continues throughout the week. By Tuesday and Wednesday, we’re expecting mostly cloudy skies with occasional flurries before the big storm moves in overnight.
This storm system is part of a larger pattern affecting southern Ontario. A Texas low is developing and moving north, clashing with the cold Arctic air already sitting over the region. That collision is what’s fueling these major snow events, and it looks like the winter frenzy isn’t over yet. There’s even the potential for freezing precipitation near Lake Erie and the Niagara region, adding another layer of hazard to the mix.
With gusty winds expected to reach up to 70-90 km/h in some areas, power outages are also a possibility. Travel will be significantly impacted, and flight cancellations could be on the horizon as airports struggle with heavy snowfall and blowing winds. So, if you have travel plans later this week, you might want to check for delays and make adjustments accordingly.
As we brace for another blast of winter, it’s crucial to stay updated on weather alerts and road conditions. If you don’t have to travel during the peak of the storm, staying indoors might be the safest option. And if you do venture out, make sure you’re bundled up and prepared for some truly brutal winter weather.
Toronto, get ready—this storm is coming in fast, and it’s going to be a snowy one! Stay safe and stay warm!
