Dual Winter Storms Bring Snow and Ice Across the U.S. This Week
Hey everyone, brace yourselves because we’ve got a wild winter weather pattern unfolding across the U.S. this week. A pair of powerful winter storms are sweeping across the Plains, Midwest, and Northeast, bringing heavy snowfall, icy conditions, and dangerous travel impacts. If you’re in these regions, you’ll want to pay close attention.
The first storm, named Harlow , is already making its way eastward, spreading snow and ice across parts of the Ohio Valley, the mid-Atlantic, and up into the Northeast. Cities like Louisville, Lexington, Washington D.C., Baltimore, Philadelphia, and even New York City are all in the path of this system. Some areas could see five or more inches of snow, while others will be dealing with treacherous ice accumulation. The worst of it is expected Monday night through Tuesday, so if you have travel plans, be prepared for some serious disruptions.

Right on the heels of Harlow, we have another system— Winter Storm Iliana . This one kicks off Tuesday night in the Central Plains before pushing eastward. Snow and ice from Iliana will stretch from Denver to Kansas City, then hit Chicago, Detroit, Buffalo, and even Boston by midweek. This second storm is tracking slightly farther north than Harlow, which means the heaviest snow could impact areas like Michigan, northern New York, and parts of New England. Some places could see more than five inches of snow, while others will get a mix of sleet and freezing rain.
And if you thought two storms were enough, hold on—there might be a third system coming later in the week. A strong Pacific storm moving into California and the Mountain West could eventually develop into yet another winter storm, affecting the Midwest and Northeast by the weekend.
On top of all this, temperatures are set to plummet. A blast of Arctic air will send wind chills plunging, with places like Montana and the Dakotas feeling temperatures as low as -40°F. Even cities like Seattle and Portland could experience record-breaking lows.
So, what does all this mean for you? If you’re in the affected areas, prepare for delays, hazardous road conditions, and possibly power outages from ice buildup. If you don’t have to travel, it’s best to stay home and let these storms pass. Stock up on essentials, charge your devices, and keep an eye on the forecast because this winter weather isn’t letting up anytime soon.
Stay safe, stay warm, and keep checking for updates as these storms develop!
