Ex-NFL WR Kadarius Toney Arrested on Assault Charges in Georgia
Former Cleveland Browns and Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Kadarius Toney has found himself in serious legal trouble. Reports confirm that Toney was arrested in Douglas County, Georgia, on February 6, following an alleged domestic violence incident that took place in January.
According to police records, Toney is facing charges of aggravated assault-strangulation and obstructing or harassing 911 calls . Authorities state that on January 14, he allegedly put his hands around a woman’s neck, applying enough force to restrict her breathing. The woman reportedly suffered red marks on her neck and petechial hemorrhaging in her eyes , which are often signs of significant pressure being applied. Furthermore, Toney allegedly took her phone to prevent her from calling for help.

An arrest warrant was issued the following day, and weeks later, Toney was taken into custody. He was later released on a $25,000 bond , but the details regarding his legal proceedings are still unclear at this time.
Toney’s professional football career has been anything but stable. Initially drafted by the New York Giants in 2021 as a first-round pick, his time there was marred by injuries and off-field concerns. The Giants traded him to the Kansas City Chiefs in 2022 , where he managed to win a Super Bowl. However, his tenure in Kansas City was short-lived, as he was released in 2024 following a series of social media clashes with the organization . He was later signed by the Cleveland Browns , but after playing in only three games, the team waived him in December following a costly mistake during a game against the Steelers.
Throughout his four seasons in the NFL, Toney has recorded 82 catches for 760 yards and three touchdowns , numbers that now seem overshadowed by the controversy surrounding his name.
This latest arrest raises serious concerns about Toney’s future—not just in football, but in life. The allegations against him are severe, and if convicted, he could be facing significant legal consequences.
