Fantastic Four Trailer Unveils Marvel’s First Family in a Retro Twist
Alright, let’s talk about something huge—Marvel just dropped the first trailer for Fantastic Four: First Steps , and fans are already losing their minds. This is a major moment for the MCU because, let’s be real, the Fantastic Four are one of the most iconic superhero teams ever. After years of waiting, multiple failed adaptations, and endless speculation, Marvel is finally bringing their First Family into the fold. And they’re doing it in a way that no one expected.
The trailer itself is about a minute and a half long, and right off the bat, it gives off a totally different vibe from the usual MCU fare. We’re talking about a world that looks straight out of the 1950s—almost like something out of The Jetsons . The aesthetic is retro-futuristic, full of old-school charm, but at the same time, it’s something fresh for the franchise. Interestingly, there’s no sign of the wider MCU here—no Avengers, no Doctor Strange, not even a hint of the multiverse (yet). But, knowing Marvel, we can bet that’ll change before long.
Now, let’s talk about the cast because, wow, they did not hold back. Pedro Pascal steps into the role of Reed Richards, aka Mr. Fantastic, while Vanessa Kirby takes on Sue Storm, the Invisible Woman. Joseph Quinn, fresh off Stranger Things , is playing Johnny Storm, the Human Torch, and Ebon Moss-Bachrach is bringing Ben Grimm, aka The Thing, to life. And if that lineup wasn’t impressive enough, Ralph Ineson is here as Galactus, and Julia Garner is rumored to be playing the Silver Surfer. That’s a powerhouse lineup, and from what we’ve seen in the trailer, they’re bringing their A-game.

One interesting thing—while we get glimpses of Sue, Johnny, and Ben using their powers, Reed Richards doesn’t actually do any stretching in the trailer. Kind of an odd choice, but maybe they’re saving the big reveal for later. What we do see, though, is a close-up of The Thing, and let’s just say, the CGI looks absolutely incredible. The detail in his rocky form, the way his movements feel natural, even the sound design—when he claps his hands, it sounds like boulders crashing together. It’s those little things that really sell the character.
And speaking of big things—Galactus. He looms over the city in the trailer, a massive and terrifying presence, but there’s no Silver Surfer in sight just yet. We also don’t get much in the way of action sequences, but that’s fine for a first teaser. This one is all about setting the mood, and it absolutely delivers.
With all the talk of "MCU fatigue," it’s worth noting that fans are reacting really well to this trailer. Sure, people have been skeptical about Marvel’s recent output, but Deadpool & Wolverine just reminded everyone that when done right, the MCU can still dominate the box office. And Fantastic Four ? This is shaping up to be a massive event. Probably even bigger than Captain America: Brave New World or Thunderbolts .
The movie is set to hit theaters on July 25, 2025, so the wait isn’t too long. But between now and then, expect a lot more marketing, more trailers, and—knowing Marvel—probably a few surprises along the way. If this first look is anything to go by, Fantastic Four: First Steps is going to be one of the biggest movies of the year. And honestly? It’s about time.
