In The Style on the Brink as Administration Looms
In The Style, once a rising star in the online fast-fashion world, is now on the verge of collapse. The company, which built its brand through influencer collaborations and trend-driven collections, is reportedly preparing to enter administration. According to reports, Baaj Capital, the company’s current owner, is lining up FTS Recovery to oversee the process, marking a significant downturn for a brand that was once valued at over £100 million.
Founded in 2013 by Adam Frisby, In The Style carved out a niche in the fashion market by partnering with social media influencers to create exclusive clothing lines. This strategy initially brought rapid growth and even led to a stock market debut on London’s AIM in 2019. However, the company’s financial situation took a turn for the worse, leading to a fire sale in 2023, when it was acquired by Baaj Capital for just over £1 million.

Since then, the company has struggled to regain stability. Declining sales, increasing competition, and shifting consumer behaviors have all contributed to its financial troubles. Just last year, the brand announced job cuts in an attempt to curb mounting losses. Despite these efforts, In The Style posted a pre-tax loss of £2.6 million for the year ending March 31, 2024—significantly lower than the £7.7 million loss from the previous year but still a major concern.
Now, with administration looming, the future of In The Style, its workforce, and its brand assets remains uncertain. Industry insiders suggest that a pre-pack insolvency deal—where the company’s assets are sold before officially entering administration—could be an option. Baaj Capital has remained tight-lipped on the matter, referring all inquiries to FTS Recovery.
The news comes amid wider struggles in the retail sector. With rising operational costs and a tougher economic climate, several well-known brands have faced similar challenges. In The Style’s fate serves as yet another reminder of how volatile the fashion industry can be, particularly for brands that rely heavily on influencer marketing and fast-changing trends.
For now, customers can still shop on In The Style’s website, but whether the brand will survive in its current form remains to be seen.
