Kevin Spacey Fires Back at Guy Pearce Over ‘Targeting’ Claims

The drama between Hollywood actors Kevin Spacey and Guy Pearce has taken center stage again, as Spacey directly responded to Pearce’s recent claims about feeling "targeted" by him on the set of L.A. Confidential . In a video message posted on X, Spacey dismissed Pearce’s statements, telling him bluntly to “grow up” and insisting, “You are not a victim.”

Pearce, currently receiving accolades for his role in The Brutalist , has been more open about his past experiences with Spacey. In a recent interview with The Hollywood Reporter , he reflected on his time working with the Oscar-winning actor in 1997, claiming that Spacey was aggressive and made him uncomfortable. Pearce admitted that, at the time, he brushed off Spacey’s behavior, thinking, “Ah, that’s nothing,” but in hindsight, he now sees it differently. He recalled feeling safer on set whenever fellow actor Simon Baker was around, as Spacey would shift his focus away from him.

Pearce also shared that he was deeply affected when allegations against Spacey surfaced in 2017 during the #MeToo movement. He said he “broke down and sobbed” upon realizing how much he had suppressed those memories. While acknowledging that others may have suffered more severe experiences, Pearce stood by his claim that Spacey had indeed “targeted” him. He mentioned having past confrontations with Spacey about the issue, which apparently "got ugly."

Spacey, who has faced multiple allegations of sexual misconduct over the years, responded with frustration, pointing out that Pearce never brought these concerns to him privately. He accused Pearce of fueling a media narrative and questioned why he had once voluntarily traveled to Georgia to visit him on another film set if he felt uncomfortable around him. Spacey dismissed the claims, sarcastically questioning whether Pearce had “just now decided to stop the bad guy” after 28 years.

Despite the controversies, Spacey maintains his innocence. He has been acquitted of multiple charges in both the UK and the US and continues to deny any wrongdoing. However, the accusations have significantly impacted his career, with Hollywood largely distancing itself from him.

The exchange between Spacey and Pearce has reignited discussions about past on-set behavior and how people process their experiences differently over time. Whether this confrontation will lead to any further fallout or reconciliation remains to be seen, but for now, the spotlight is back on a decades-old controversy.
