Keyonte George Shines as Jazz Rally Past Rockets
Man, what a game last night between the Utah Jazz and the Houston Rockets! If you missed it, let me break it down for you—because Keyonte George absolutely went off. The rookie put on a show, leading the Jazz to a thrilling 124-115 comeback win over the Rockets.
From the start, Houston came out firing, going on an 8-0 run, but Utah quickly responded. It was a battle all night, with both teams trading blows, but George was the difference-maker. He came off the bench and immediately caught fire, dropping 11 points in just six minutes. And he didn’t slow down—by halftime, he had already racked up 20 points, keeping Utah within striking distance as Houston held a 62-56 lead.

The second half was all about momentum swings. Lauri Markkanen, who finished with 23 points and 10 rebounds, helped Utah inch back into the game. Walker Kessler was a force on the boards, snagging 17 rebounds to go along with his 11 points. But the Rockets weren't backing down either—Alperen Sengun was dominant, finishing with 27 points and 12 rebounds, while Jalen Green put up 25 points and 10 assists. Amen Thompson also had a solid night with 23 points.
Then came the turning point in the fourth quarter. The Rockets were up 96-89 after back-to-back threes from Aaron Holiday and Thompson, but the Jazz refused to go away. They went on a massive 21-5 run, completely flipping the game in their favor. Cody Williams’ layup capped off the run, putting Utah up 110-101 with just under six minutes left. From there, George sealed the deal with a cold-blooded pull-up three, giving the Jazz the lead for good.
Houston struggled down the stretch, going ice-cold from the field and turning the ball over at crucial moments. They had controlled the game for most of the night but just couldn’t hold on when it mattered most. Utah, on the other hand, absolutely dominated the paint, outscoring Houston 66-36 inside. That physicality and energy made all the difference.
For Utah, this was a big-time win, snapping their two-game losing streak. George proved once again why he’s one of the most exciting young players in the league, finishing with a game-high 30 points. Next up, the Jazz will host the Portland Trail Blazers on Monday night, while the Rockets look to bounce back against the Milwaukee Bucks on Tuesday.
If this game was any indication, Keyonte George is a name we’ll be hearing a lot more in the future. What a performance!
