Major M6 Crash Causes Chaos as Motorway Remains Closed

If you're traveling on the M6 in Lancashire today, expect some major delays. A serious crash involving a lorry and a van has caused major disruptions, with the motorway shut down northbound between Junction 32 (M55) and Junction 33 (Garstang).

The collision happened early this morning at around 5:20 AM, and unfortunately, a man in his 50s has suffered serious injuries. He has been taken to the hospital, and emergency services remain on the scene. Lancashire Police and National Highways are urging drivers to avoid the area if possible, as the road closure is expected to be in place for quite some time.

Traffic is already backed up for miles, with some drivers facing delays of over an hour. National Highways has provided a diversion route, advising motorists to follow the “solid triangle” signs to bypass the affected section. However, congestion remains heavy, especially during the morning rush hour. If you’re planning to travel in this direction, you might want to consider an alternative route or even delay your journey if possible.

Authorities are now investigating the cause of the crash, and police are appealing for any witnesses or dashcam footage to help with their inquiries. If you were in the area at the time or have any relevant footage, you’re encouraged to contact Lancashire Police on 101, quoting log 132 of February 5th.

For now, the best advice is to stay updated with travel alerts and allow extra time for your journey. With emergency services still working at the scene, normal traffic conditions are not expected to return until at least mid-morning.

If you’re stuck in traffic, stay patient and follow the diversion routes. Hopefully, the situation will be resolved soon, but safety comes first. Stay safe on the roads, and if you’re heading towards the M6, plan ahead!
