At least four earthquakes hit near Hayward, California, ranging from magnitudes 2.7 to 3.7, according to the U.S. Geological Survey. This happened throughout the day on Thursday, and people as far as Concord and Fremont reported feeling the tremors.

Now, while these quakes weren’t strong enough to cause major damage, they are definitely a reminder of how active the region is. The Hayward Fault is known for being one of the most dangerous fault lines in the U.S., and experts have long warned that a much larger quake could happen in the future.

The good news? No injuries have been reported so far. But these smaller quakes should serve as a wake-up call for all of us. Are you prepared for a bigger earthquake? Do you have an emergency kit ready? If not, now is a great time to put one together. Experts recommend having essentials like water, non-perishable food, flashlights, batteries, and a first-aid kit on hand.
