A devastating crash in Dalkeith has left a young woman dead and a rideshare driver critically injured, with a well-known Perth obstetrician now facing serious charges.

On Saturday night, around 10 PM, 45-year-old Dr. Rhys Bellinge was driving his Jaguar when he allegedly lost control and crashed into a parked rideshare vehicle on Birdwood Parade. Tragically, a 24-year-old woman, who had just entered the car, died at the scene. The rideshare driver, a man in his 20s, had to be rescued from the wreckage and rushed to Royal Perth Hospital with life-threatening injuries.

Dr. Bellinge, who was also hospitalized with serious injuries, has since been charged with manslaughter and dangerous driving. Police major crash investigators worked quickly to determine the cause of the collision, leading to the charges late Sunday night.

The heartbreaking scene was witnessed by local residents, including Ellen, a neighbor who rushed to help. She described holding the young woman in her final moments, saying she was unconscious but initially had a pulse. Unfortunately, despite efforts from paramedics, the woman did not survive.
