Tottenham Dominate Ipswich with a 4-1 Victory in Premier League Clash
Wow, what a game! Tottenham Hotspur put on a dominant display at Portman Road, securing a convincing 4-1 victory over Ipswich Town. Brennan Johnson was the star of the show, bagging two goals early on to give Spurs the perfect start. It was an impressive performance from Ange Postecoglou’s side, who seem to be finding their rhythm after a tough season.
But let’s not forget how Ipswich came out of the gates. They were absolutely flying in the opening minutes, with Liam Delap causing all sorts of problems for the Spurs defense. Within the first six minutes, he had three golden chances to score, hitting the post and forcing Guglielmo Vicario into some sharp saves. Ipswich fans had hope, but that hope didn’t last long.
Tottenham absorbed the pressure and then struck back clinically. Son Heung-Min, showing his quality as always, set up Johnson for both goals in the 18th and 26th minutes. The first was a simple tap-in, but the second was pure class—a composed finish that left Ipswich stunned.

Ipswich did manage to pull one back just before halftime, thanks to a brilliant strike from Omari Hutchinson. The home crowd roared, believing a comeback might be on the cards. They even thought they had equalized when Luke Woolfenden headed in a free-kick, but the linesman’s flag cut the celebrations short. That offside call turned out to be a massive turning point.
As Ipswich pushed forward in search of a second goal, they left gaps at the back, and Spurs made them pay. In the 77th minute, Djed Spence smashed home a crucial third goal for Tottenham, effectively sealing the win. Then, just to put the icing on the cake, Dejan Kulusevski added a fourth in the 84th minute with a brilliant curling strike off the post. It was game over for Ipswich.
With this victory, Spurs have now won three league games in a row for the first time in over a year, climbing to 12th in the table. On the other hand, Ipswich’s struggles continue—they remain in the relegation zone, five points from safety, and desperately need results to go their way.
Ange Postecoglou will be pleased with how his team has responded in recent weeks. He spoke about the squad embracing a "reset" and targeting European football next season. While they’re still 10 points off sixth place, performances like this suggest they’re moving in the right direction.
For Ipswich, the battle to avoid relegation is getting tougher, and with a trip to Manchester United up next, things won’t get any easier. Kieran McKenna knows his team needs to start turning good performances into points—fast.
So, what did you make of the game? Were Spurs just too good, or should Ipswich have done more after their strong start? Let’s hear your thoughts!
