Winnipeg Friends Embark on Epic Road Trip to Cheer Seth Jarvis at 4 Nations
Imagine this—five lifelong friends from Winnipeg, packed into an SUV, hitting the road for a 30-hour drive, all to support one of their own on hockey’s international stage. This is exactly what happened when a group of Seth Jarvis’s closest pals decided that nothing—not flight cancellations, not exhaustion—was going to stop them from witnessing their friend compete for Canada in the 4 Nations Face-Off final against the U.S.
Lucas Fry, Bryan Hanna, Lucas Humble, Matt McLeod, and Sloan Tremblay had originally planned to fly to Boston. But when their flights were canceled due to storms and other issues, they did what any true Canadian hockey fans would—they improvised. Piling into a vehicle, they took turns driving, barely stopping for food and sleep, determined to make it to TD Garden in time for the big game.

And what a game it was! The tension inside the arena was electric. The U.S. crowd was loud, even booing the Canadian anthem before puck drop. But Jarvis’s friends weren’t fazed. They cheered as loud as they could, standing proudly in their Canada jerseys, soaking in every moment. And when Connor McDavid scored the overtime winner to seal Canada’s 3-2 victory, they erupted with pure joy.
Post-game celebrations were just as special. The group got to reunite with Jarvis, who was still wearing his championship medal. The NHL forward, now playing a key role for the Carolina Hurricanes, made sure his friends knew how much their support meant to him. "He said it meant a lot," Humble shared, "but honestly, it meant even more to us to see him live out his dream."
The journey wasn’t just about the destination—it was about brotherhood, passion, and proving that Canadian hockey fans will go to any length to support their own. As the friends made their way back home to Winnipeg, they carried with them memories of a once-in-a-lifetime experience, proof that for true hockey lovers, no distance is too far.
