
Calgary Police Investigate Suspicious Death in Belmont
Calgary police are currently investigating a suspicious death in the southwest community of Belmont. Early Monday morning, officers responded to a 911 call at a home on Belmont Drive S.W. at around 1:50 a.m. When they arrived, they discovered a deceased woman inside the residence.
Authorities have confirmed that one person has been taken into custody in connection with the incident. However, they have not disclosed the nature of the relationship between the individual in custody and the victim. Police believe this was a targeted incident, reassuring the public that there is no ongoing threat to the community.

The home remains an active crime scene, with police tape surrounding the duplex. A patrol unit was stationed outside the residence throughout Monday, and witnesses reported seeing a broken window on the back door of the house. According to neighbors, a couple had been living in the home, and there had been no prior police activity at the address.
Residents who live in the basement unit of the house told investigators they were questioned about the incident but did not hear any disturbances overnight. Police are expected to release further details following an autopsy scheduled for Tuesday.
