The skies over Avalon are about to come alive with breathtaking aerial displays, cutting-edge technology, and thrilling performances as the 2025 Australian International Airshow prepares for takeoff. This highly anticipated event, happening from March 28-30, is set to draw more than 280,000 spectators, making it the biggest aviation showcase in the Southern Hemisphere.

For aviation enthusiasts, military personnel, and families alike, the Avalon Airshow is an opportunity to witness some of the most advanced aircraft in action. The Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF), the Australian Army, and the historic 100 Squadron will be showcasing their impressive fleet, along with international participants from the United States, New Zealand, and Germany. The highlight of the show? The awe-inspiring F-35A Lightning II, a stealth fighter that can break the speed of sound by nearly 700km/h.

RAAF Roulette pilot David Burnard, a seasoned airshow performer, expressed his excitement about the event. Having participated in over ten public displays, he emphasized how significant such shows are for pilots. "A lot of what we do happens behind closed doors, so it's fantastic to be out in front of the public, demonstrating the incredible platforms we get to fly and the complex maneuvers we perform," he shared.

In addition to the F-35A, visitors will be treated to thrilling aerial demonstrations by the US Air Force’s F-22 Raptor and New Zealand’s C-130J Hercules. For the first time in 2025, attendees will get an up-close view of these aircraft taking off right from the edge of the runway, providing an immersive experience unlike any other.

But the Avalon Airshow isn’t just about watching aircraft soar through the sky. It’s also a hands-on experience with interactive static displays. Attendees will be able to walk around and explore aircraft like the Apache AH-64E, F/A-18F Super Hornet, UH-60M Black Hawk, and CH-47 Chinook, getting an inside look at these aviation marvels. RAAF Air Commodore Scott Winchester highlighted the importance of these interactions, saying, "This event gives Australians the chance to meet pilots, engineers, and maintenance crews, inspiring the next generation of aviation and defense personnel."

Whether you’re a lifelong aviation fanatic or just looking for an unforgettable experience, the 2025 Avalon Airshow promises to be a spectacular event. From high-speed maneuvers to the roar of jet engines, this airshow is set to captivate audiences and leave them with lasting memories. Mark your calendars, because you won’t want to miss this sky-high spectacle!
