High Winds and Temperature Drop Hit Las Vegas – What You Need to Know
Hey everyone, if you're in Las Vegas or nearby areas, buckle up because Mother Nature has some strong winds in store for us. A High Wind Warning is officially in effect for the Las Vegas Valley, the Spring Mountains, and parts of Nye County. If you thought we were in for a calm start to the week, think again!
For those in the Spring Mountains and west Las Vegas Valley, expect west winds of 25 to 35 mph , with gusts reaching up to a powerful 60 mph . And it’s not just the mountains—southern Nye County is also in for some serious wind action, with speeds ranging from 25 to 30 mph and gusts hitting 60 mph. Meanwhile, the central and eastern parts of the valley are looking at slightly milder, but still strong, 20 to 30 mph winds with gusts between 40 and 50 mph.

As the afternoon and evening progress, these winds will intensify. After sunset, things could get even more unpredictable, with sustained winds of 20 to 30 mph and gusts up to 45 mph . If you’re heading out, secure anything that could blow away, and if you drive a high-profile vehicle, be extra cautious!
Now, let’s talk about some weather changes. A cold front is making its way into the area Monday night into Tuesday. This means a few light showers could touch the valley, while the mountains might see 2 to 3 inches of snow . If you were hoping for a warm and calm Tuesday, think again—strong northwesterly winds will return, though slightly weaker than Monday’s, bringing with them a noticeable temperature drop . Highs on Tuesday will only reach the mid-60s , a sharp contrast to the warmer days we've been enjoying.
But don't worry—this blustery spell won’t last forever. By midweek, the winds will calm down, and temperatures will gradually rise again, reaching the low to mid-70s as we head into the weekend. A little patience, and we’ll be back to enjoying that signature Las Vegas warmth.
For now, stay safe, secure loose objects, and be mindful of travel conditions, especially in those high-wind areas. Keep an eye on the forecast, and as always, stay weather-aware!
