Israel Resumes Strikes on Gaza Amid Ceasefire Breakdown
The situation in Gaza has escalated once again. Israel has launched its most extensive airstrikes on the Gaza Strip since the ceasefire agreement began in January. According to reports, these attacks have resulted in the deaths of over 100 Palestinians, including many children, with scores more injured. The strikes come as negotiations between Israel and Hamas over an extended truce failed to reach an agreement.
The Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) claim they are targeting Hamas infrastructure and "terror targets." However, civilian casualties are mounting, with entire families being caught in the devastation. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has justified the attacks, stating that Hamas has refused to release hostages and rejected mediation efforts from the United States. In a statement, his office declared that Israel will now act against Hamas with "increasing military strength."

The airstrikes have hit multiple locations across Gaza, including Deir Al-Balah, Gaza City, Khan Younis, and Rafah. Eyewitnesses describe entire buildings reduced to rubble and emergency responders struggling to reach those trapped under the debris. The humanitarian crisis in Gaza continues to worsen, with most of the population displaced and critical infrastructure—such as hospitals, water supplies, and food distribution centers—either destroyed or on the brink of collapse.
Reports indicate that the United States was briefed ahead of the strikes, with officials from the Trump administration expressing support for Israel’s actions. Meanwhile, international mediators have been working to salvage a ceasefire extension, but deep disagreements between Hamas and Israel have prevented any breakthrough.
The latest round of violence is part of a broader conflict that began in October 2023 when Hamas launched an attack on Israel, killing over 1,200 people and taking more than 250 hostages. Israel's military response has since killed over 48,000 Palestinians, the majority being civilians, according to Gaza's health ministry figures used by the UN. The war has displaced millions, destroyed homes, and created dire humanitarian conditions.
As airstrikes continue and diplomatic efforts falter, the people of Gaza remain trapped in an unending cycle of violence. With no clear resolution in sight, the toll on civilians—especially children—continues to grow, making this one of the most devastating conflicts in recent history.
