Kieran Culkin Wins First Oscar – and Calls Out His Wife’s Promise for More Kids!

Last night at the 97th Academy Awards, Kieran Culkin officially became an Oscar winner! He took home the award for Best Supporting Actor for his role in A Real Pain , marking a major milestone in his career. And, in true Culkin fashion, his acceptance speech was both heartfelt and hilarious.

If you’ve been following his awards season journey, you already know that Culkin has been sweeping up trophies left and right—from the SAG Awards to the BAFTAs, the Golden Globes, and beyond. But the Oscars? That’s the big one. And as he stood on stage, gold statue in hand, he had a message for his wife, Jazz Charton—one that had the audience laughing and cheering.

You see, after winning an Emmy last year for Succession , Culkin reminded Jazz that she once promised they’d have a third child if he ever won. She reluctantly agreed, and sure enough, after the win, she admitted, "I guess I owe you a third kid." But Culkin wasn’t done. He wanted four. Her response? "I will give you four when you win an Oscar."

Well, fast forward to now, and here we are. On the biggest stage in Hollywood, Culkin looked right at his wife and playfully reminded her of that promise. “Jazz, love of my life, ye of little faith—no pressure.” The camera cut to Charton in the audience, laughing and mouthing an emphatic "No!"

Aside from his family banter, Culkin had some heartfelt words for his A Real Pain director, Jesse Eisenberg. He called him a genius (but quickly added he’d never say it to his face). He also gave a shoutout to fellow nominee and Succession co-star Jeremy Strong—though part of his speech got bleeped on air!

This Oscar win is the cherry on top of a career that started decades ago. Many remember Culkin as the younger brother in Home Alone or the sarcastic teen in Igby Goes Down , but it was his role as Roman Roy in Succession that truly cemented his status as one of Hollywood’s best. And now, with A Real Pain , he’s proven once again that he’s got both the comedic chops and the emotional depth to take on any role.

So, what’s next for Kieran Culkin? More incredible performances? Another award-winning role? Or... maybe, just maybe, another baby? Guess we’ll have to wait and see.
