Lakers Dominate Pelicans as LeBron and Luka Shine in Statement Win

Man, what a game! The Los Angeles Lakers absolutely steamrolled the New Orleans Pelicans with a commanding 136-115 victory. And let me tell you, this wasn’t just any regular-season win—it was a statement. The Lakers are officially in their groove, and with LeBron James and Luka Dončić leading the charge, this team is looking scary good.

Coming into this matchup, there was some concern that the Lakers might take their foot off the gas. They had just come off two huge wins against the Clippers, and with a showdown against the Knicks looming, this could have easily been a “trap game.” But nope—the Lakers locked in, handled their business, and even got to enjoy some well-earned laughs on the bench by the end.

And speaking of business, LeBron James was in full control . At 39 years old, he continues to defy logic, putting up 34 points, 8 rebounds, and 6 assists , while going 5-of-10 from three-point range . Just casually dropping buckets from deep like it’s nothing. It’s insane how effortless he makes it look. And then there’s Luka Dončić , who seems to be thriving in the purple and gold. 30 points, 8 rebounds, and 15 assists —the dude was throwing dimes all over the place. At one point, it felt like every possession ended in either a Luka step-back three or a pinpoint assist to an open shooter. His +37 plus/minus rating is the highest for a Laker since 2020. Unreal.

But let’s not forget about Jaxson Hayes , who had an absolute breakout night. 19 points and 10 rebounds on a perfect 8-for-8 shooting ? That’s the kind of performance that turns role players into difference-makers. And how about Jarred Vanderbilt? He’s looking like his old self again, stuffing the stat sheet with 12 points, 8 rebounds, and a couple of big defensive plays . If he’s back to playing at this level consistently, the Lakers’ defense just got even tougher.

On the flip side, it was a rough night for Gabe Vincent , who went 1-for-7 from the field and 0-for-6 from deep . The Lakers don’t necessarily need him to be a lights-out shooter, but man, they could use some consistency from him.

Overall, though, this was just a beautifully executed game from LA. They shot a ridiculous 52 three-pointers , showing off a level of spacing and ball movement that wasn’t always there in previous seasons. Credit to JJ Redick and the coaching staff , who recognized that the Pelicans have been giving up a ton of threes and made that a focal point of the game plan. The result? A dominant win and even more momentum heading into their next challenge.

Seven wins in a row now. The Lakers are rolling. And with LeBron and Luka looking this good together, the rest of the league better be on high alert.
