Meanwhile, Alexandar Georgiev was clutch in net, stopping Auston Matthews and Mitch Marner to seal the win—redemption after letting in Nylander’s opening shootout attempt. Georgiev finished the night with 30 saves, a solid performance despite the late-game chaos.
Collin Graf, Alexander Wennberg, and William Eklund also found the back of the net for the Sharks. Graf, in particular, had a milestone moment, becoming the first Sharks rookie to score a short-handed goal since Tomas Plihal back in 2008. Meanwhile, Wennberg’s goal was the 100th of his career—quite the night for milestones in San Jose.
On the Leafs’ side, Matthews and Scott Laughton contributed second-period goals, while Joseph Woll matched Georgiev with 30 saves of his own. But in the end, it wasn’t enough to overcome the Sharks’ resilience.
