Thunder Dominate Grizzlies as Gilgeous-Alexander Drops 37 in Record-Breaking Win

Wow, what a game! The Oklahoma City Thunder are absolutely on fire right now. Last night, they not only secured their eighth straight win, but they also made history by setting a new franchise record with their 61st victory of the season. And leading the charge? None other than Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, who delivered a sensational 37-point performance to help the Thunder defeat the Memphis Grizzlies 125-104.

The energy in Oklahoma City was electric from the get-go. Jalen Williams, back after missing seven games with a hip injury, made his presence felt by dropping 20 points. Isaiah Hartenstein also stepped up big, contributing 18 points and 11 rebounds. With this win, the Thunder remain two games ahead of Cleveland for the best record in the league with just nine games left in the regular season. More importantly, they’ve locked in the top spot in the Western Conference, which is a huge advantage heading into the playoffs.

Now, the Grizzlies didn’t just roll over. Jaren Jackson Jr. put up 27 points, and Scotty Pippen Jr. showed out with a strong all-around game—17 points, 10 rebounds, seven assists, and five steals. But Memphis was missing their star, Ja Morant, who sat out his sixth straight game due to a hamstring strain. That absence was definitely felt, especially in the fourth quarter.

The game started off fairly balanced. At halftime, the Thunder held a slim 63-59 lead. But the third quarter saw OKC come out swinging, hitting an 8-0 run right out of the gate, forcing an early Memphis timeout. The Grizzlies managed to battle back and keep things close, cutting the lead to just two points heading into the fourth, 91-89. But that’s where Oklahoma City completely took over.

The Thunder put on a clinic in the final quarter. A clutch three-pointer from Cason Wallace pushed their lead to 112-99, followed by a pair of free throws from Hartenstein to cap off a dominant 15-0 run. Memphis simply couldn’t keep up, managing to hit just 5 of 19 shots in the fourth. Meanwhile, Oklahoma City was locked in, shooting 13-of-23 from the field in the final period.

Lu Dort also came through in the clutch, knocking down a huge three-pointer to break a 99-99 tie. Right after that, Hartenstein threw down a powerful dunk, putting the Thunder up 104-99 with just over six minutes left. From that point, it was all OKC. Even with some key players dealing with minor injuries—Alex Caruso (back soreness) and Jaylin Williams (hip stiffness) both exited the game—the Thunder’s depth proved too much for the Grizzlies to handle.

This team is clicking on all cylinders at the perfect time. With just a handful of games left in the regular season, Oklahoma City is looking like a serious championship contender. Up next, they’ll host the Indiana Pacers, while the Grizzlies will try to bounce back against the Los Angeles Lakers.

If you’re a Thunder fan, you’ve got to be feeling good right now. This squad is making history, and they’re showing no signs of slowing down!
