Tigers' Thrilling Comeback Stuns Dolphins in Queensland Clash
The Wests Tigers have delivered a stunning performance, overturning a 12-point deficit to defeat the Dolphins 30-18 in an electrifying NRL showdown. This marks their second consecutive victory, signaling a new era for the club under coach Benji Marshall.
The game kicked off with the Dolphins asserting dominance early. Jack Bostock's quick-fire try in the corner set the tone, followed by strong finishes from Herbie Farnworth and Kodi Nikorima. At 18-6, the Tigers appeared to be in trouble, struggling to find their rhythm against a determined Dolphins outfit. But just before halftime, young hooker Tallyn Da Silva reignited hope by muscling over the line, reducing the deficit to 18-12.

The second half was a different story altogether. The Tigers came out with renewed energy, locking down their defense and forcing errors from the Dolphins. Sunia Turuva, who had already crossed once, added a second try in the 63rd minute, bringing the scores level. Adam Doueihi’s conversion off the post was a stroke of luck, signaling a shift in momentum.
As the game neared its climax, Alex Seyfarth bulldozed over Nikorima to score, giving the Tigers their first lead of the night. But the final act belonged to skipper Apisai Koroisau, who stepped up when it mattered most. Spotting a gap from dummy half, he darted past defenders, sealing the Tigers’ 30-18 victory with a brilliant solo try. "That’s captaincy at its best!" Fox League’s Kevin Walters exclaimed.
Despite the victory, the Tigers' win was marred by an injury concern for Jeral Skelton, who left the field clutching his knee in the second half. His condition remains uncertain, with the club awaiting medical reports.
With this win, the Tigers climb the ladder, proving that they are far from the struggling team of previous seasons. Koroisau and Jarome Luai have brought leadership and confidence, elevating the team’s attacking prowess. As they gear up to face the Warriors next week, the question remains: can the Tigers maintain their momentum and continue their resurgence?
For the Dolphins, this loss adds to their early-season struggles. They now face a daunting challenge against the Brisbane Broncos next Friday night. Will they bounce back, or is there more trouble ahead for the Redcliffe-based club?
