Tornado Warnings Issued Across Central Ohio – Stay Alert!
Hey everyone, we have an urgent weather update for Central Ohio. Multiple counties are currently under tornado watches and warnings, and it’s important to stay aware and prepared for any potential severe weather.
As of now, a tornado warning is in effect until 10:15 p.m. for Franklin, Fayette, and Pickaway counties. Meanwhile, a broader tornado watch remains in place until 1 a.m. for several other counties, including Adams, Delaware, Fairfield, Highland, Hocking, Licking, Madison, Pike, Ross, Scioto, and Union. This means conditions are favorable for tornado development, so please take necessary precautions.

Storms are expected to intensify as they move through the region, with the potential for damaging winds reaching speeds of 60-70 mph. The Storm Prediction Center has classified most of Ohio under an Enhanced Risk (level 3 out of 5) for severe weather, while some areas fall under a Slight Risk (level 2 out of 5). This means we could see strong thunderstorms, large hail, and possibly tornadoes developing as the system moves in.
The worst of the weather is expected to arrive between 7 p.m. and midnight. However, keep in mind that these storms could move in sooner than expected. If you’re in an affected area, now is the time to review your safety plan, charge your devices, and have multiple ways to receive alerts.
For those in Northeast Ohio, a strong line of thunderstorms is also making its way into the region. Winds up to 50 mph have been reported, and forecasters warn that unsecured outdoor items could become dangerous projectiles. Communities including Cleveland, Akron, Medina, and Strongsville are among those at risk.
As the system moves out by early Monday morning, lingering rain showers will persist. Temperatures will start to drop, with overnight lows dipping into the mid-30s before some sunshine returns on Tuesday. Looking ahead, another round of storms could arrive midweek, bringing additional risks of severe weather and possible flooding.
So, stay weather-aware, keep an eye on updates, and make sure you have a safe place to shelter if needed. If you haven’t already, download your local weather app, have a NOAA radio on hand, and follow local news for the latest alerts. Stay safe, everyone!
