Trump took to his Truth Social account, calling the discussion “very good and productive,” emphasizing that both Putin and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky want an end to the war. Trump also expressed confidence that negotiations will lead to broader peace talks, starting with an agreement on energy and infrastructure before expanding to maritime security in the Black Sea.
While this is seen as progress by some, others argue that Putin may be buying time while continuing his broader military strategy. Ukraine, for its part, has not yet officially responded to this offer. The reality remains that while the energy ceasefire would provide much-needed relief to Ukrainian civilians, it does not address the larger issue of Russian military aggression.
