Weather Forces Changes to Creighton Baseball's Weekend Schedule
Hey everyone, we’ve got some schedule changes for Creighton Baseball this weekend, and it’s all thanks to a major snowstorm that hit Omaha earlier this week. If you were planning to catch the Bluejays in action against Saint Mary's College, here’s what you need to know.
Originally, the series was supposed to start on Friday, March 21, but due to the snowfall, that game has been pushed to Sunday. Instead, we now have a doubleheader on Sunday, March 23. Saturday’s game, however, is still on—just with a new start time of 3:00 PM. Here’s the updated schedule:
-
Game 1: Saturday, March 22 – 3:00 PM
Also Read: -
Game 2: Sunday, March 23 – 1:00 PM (7 innings)
-
Game 3: Sunday, March 23 – 45 minutes after Game 2 (9 innings)
If you already bought tickets for Friday’s game, don’t worry—they’re still valid for Sunday. And if that doesn’t work for you, you can exchange them at the Creighton Ticket Office inside the Ryan Athletic Center.
Now, let’s talk about the matchup. Creighton has played Saint Mary’s twice before, and they’ve come out on top both times. The Bluejays won their last meetings in 1997 and 1999, so history is on their side.
As for the current season, Creighton is looking strong. They’ve won nine of their last eleven games and hold an 11-5 record. Their offense is powered by players like Nolan Sailors, who’s hitting an impressive .387, and Dakota Duffalo at .350. On the pitching side, they have a solid team ERA of 4.20, with closer Garrett Langrell successfully converting all four of his save opportunities.
Saint Mary’s, on the other hand, comes into the series with an 11-9 record. They’ve been struggling a bit, losing five of their last seven games. That said, they have some big hitters, including Cody Kashimoto, who’s batting a whopping .397. However, their pitching has been a bit shaky, with a team ERA of 5.98.
So, with all these factors in play, we’re looking at a competitive weekend of baseball. Let’s hope the Bluejays keep up their momentum and extend their winning streak over the Gaels. If you’re in Omaha, bundle up and come support the team—it’s going to be an exciting series!
