Canadiens Playoff Hopes Ignite Surge in Ticket Prices
The excitement is building in Montreal as the Canadiens inch closer to clinching a playoff spot, but fans who want to experience the thrill live at the Bell Centre better be ready to open their wallets—because getting a seat is far from cheap right now.
It’s playoff fever in the city, and demand is skyrocketing. As of early Tuesday afternoon, not a single resale ticket for the Canadiens’ matchup against the Detroit Red Wings was listed under $200. The cheapest available were $209 on StubHub, $211 on Ticketmaster, and $213 on Billets.ca, with SeatGeek offering a relative bargain at $187. Some tickets are even fetching up to $841. The reason? A regulation win that night would give the Canadiens a 96.3% chance of making the playoffs, according to MoneyPuck.com. So yeah, fans are buying in—literally.

This surge is a dramatic shift from earlier this season. Before the holidays, you could snag upper-level tickets for $40 to $60, even when big-name teams like Sidney Crosby’s Penguins were in town. But things have changed. With the Canadiens now fully immersed in a fierce playoff race, their electric performances—led by stars like Nick Suzuki, Cole Caufield, Patrik Laine, and rookie sensation Lane Hutson—have fans and scalpers swarming.
Three of the Canadiens’ last five games are at home, and ticket prices for those are also climbing fast. Monday’s matchup with the Blackhawks is already fetching a minimum of $171, with premium seats running up to $915 and luxury boxes as high as $5,000. The April 16 clash against the Hurricanes is priced similarly. If Montreal punches its playoff ticket, it’ll be the team’s first home postseason game in front of a full crowd since 2017, and it’s likely prices will only skyrocket from there.
Led by a youthful core averaging just 26.4 years of age, and a first line barely over 23, the Canadiens weren’t expected to be here. Yet with 85 points and five games remaining, they're only seven points away from the magic number of 92 to all but guarantee a playoff spot. Suzuki’s been pivotal—five goals in his last four games, one in overtime, another a game-winner—and he's now a legitimate force wearing the “C.”
So as the stakes rise and the countdown to the playoffs continues, one thing is clear: watching the Habs chase glory in person is a hot ticket—and it’s not coming cheap.
