Delhi Capitals Break Chennai Jinx with Clinical Win in IPL 2025 Showdown
Delhi Capitals delivered a statement performance in Match 17 of the TATA IPL 2025, claiming a solid 25-run victory over Chennai Super Kings at the iconic MA Chidambaram Stadium. This win wasn’t just another feather in the cap—it marked DC’s first triumph over CSK in Chennai since 2010, breaking a 15-year-long drought and reinforcing their unbeaten run this season.
Leading from the front, KL Rahul showed his class with the bat, crafting a sublime 77 off 51 balls. Axar Patel and Rahul held the middle innings steady, but the Purple Cap holder Noor Ahmad had other plans, sending Axar back for 21. Still, Rahul pressed on, registering his first half-century in DC colors before eventually falling in the final over to a clever delivery from Matheesha Pathirana. Stubbs and Rizvi chipped in, while the innings wrapped up at a competitive 183/6.
CSK’s chase faltered right from the start. Their in-form man Rachin Ravindra was removed early, followed by the big blow of Ruturaj Gaikwad, who succumbed to a bouncer from Starc. Vipraj Nigam emerged as the key figure in the bowling department, dismissing Conway and later the dangerous Shivam Dube—right after being hit for a six, no less. That moment captured DC’s unyielding intent.
Kuldeep Yadav joined the party with a beautifully disguised googly to trap Ravindra Jadeja LBW, pushing CSK further down the rabbit hole. Even with MS Dhoni and Vijay Shankar trying to reconstruct the innings, the required run rate kept climbing.
