KL Rahul Shines as Delhi Capitals Crush LSG in Commanding Chase

What a game in the IPL 2025! If you watched the Delhi Capitals vs. Lucknow Super Giants match, you know exactly what I mean — it was pure class from KL Rahul and his team. The Capitals looked sharp, focused, and in control from start to finish, and they made chasing a tricky total of 160 look almost effortless.

KL Rahul was the standout star of the night, playing a captain’s knock without actually captaining. He stayed unbeaten on 57 from just 42 deliveries and closed the game in style with a towering six off Prince Yadav. It was one of those finishes where you just sit back and admire the composure and authority he brought to the crease. But it wasn’t a one-man show — opener Abhishek Porel laid a solid foundation with a classy 51 off 36 balls. Together, they pretty much sealed the deal early in the chase.

Axar Patel, standing in as skipper, also played a smart, mature hand, remaining unbeaten on 34. He supported Rahul brilliantly, and their partnership ensured there were no late-game jitters. Delhi wrapped it up with 13 balls to spare, underlining their dominance.

Let’s not forget how it all began. Lucknow had a solid start thanks to an 87-run opening stand between Mitchell Marsh and Aiden Markram. Markram, in great form this season, scored another crisp 52, but once he fell right after the 10-over mark, the tide turned dramatically. Marsh followed not long after for 45, and suddenly LSG were in a bit of a scramble.

The game-changing moment? Definitely Mukesh Kumar’s fiery spell. He took 4 wickets for 33 runs, including the key dismissals of Marsh, Abdul Samad, and even finished things off by removing Ayush Badoni and captain Rishabh Pant in the final over. Mitchell Starc chipped in as well by clean bowling Nicholas Pooran for just 9.

So with this win, Delhi climbs to 12 points, tied with the Gujarat Titans, but slightly behind on net run rate. LSG, on the other hand, now finds themselves slipping to fifth on the table, with their campaign needing a spark.

All in all, it was a commanding performance from Delhi — clinical, calm, and confident. And Rahul? He’s proving once again why he’s one of the most reliable batters in the league. If the Capitals keep up this momentum, they’re going to be a serious threat come playoff time.
