Pachuca Edges Necaxa in a Wild 8-Goal Thriller at Estadio Victoria
What a match we just witnessed between Necaxa and Pachuca—it was pure chaos and brilliance rolled into 90+ minutes of adrenaline-fueled football. If you missed it, let me catch you up on one of the most entertaining games of the Liga MX Clausura 2025 so far. We’re talking eight goals, lead changes, individual brilliance, and a hat-trick hero—all under the lights of Estadio Victoria.
Right from the kickoff, Necaxa looked fired up. Playing at home, they came out aggressive, pressing high and forcing Pachuca into early errors. At the 13-minute mark, it looked like Necaxa had drawn first blood through a slick break by Tomás Badaloni, but the goal was ruled out for a marginal offside. A let-off for Pachuca, and that woke them up.
Then came the man of the night—Salomón Rondón. Around the half-hour mark, after a chaotic rebound in the box, Rondón pounced and buried the opener for Pachuca. But Necaxa had an immediate response—Kevin Rosero’s delivery found Pavel Pérez, who smashed home the equalizer in the 31st. One-one and the tempo didn’t drop for a second.

Just before halftime, Rondón struck again. A corner led to a scramble, and after a save and a bounce off the crossbar, the Venezuelan striker capitalized again, sending Pachuca into the break with a 2-1 lead.
Second half? Even crazier. Diego de Buen brought Necaxa level with a rocket from just outside the area. Then came what could be the goal of the tournament—Pérez again, this time with a volley that hit the underside of the bar and dropped in. Absolute screamer. Necaxa now up 3-2 with just over 10 minutes to play.
But Pachuca wasn’t done. ElÃas Montiel leveled it at 3-3 with a powerful effort that UnsaÃn couldn’t keep out. Then, in the 87th minute, Ponchito González received in the box and calmly slotted it past the keeper for the go-ahead goal. Necaxa pushed forward desperately, but in stoppage time, a fast break saw Rondón complete his hat-trick, sealing a dramatic 5-3 victory for the Tuzos.
Pachuca now climbs into fourth place with 27 points, positioning themselves as serious contenders heading into the final stretch of the tournament. Necaxa, despite the loss, showed they’re not a team to be taken lightly. But when Rondón is on form like this, few teams in Liga MX can hold him back.
What a night. What a game. This is what makes football in Mexico absolutely electric.
