Rain Returns, Snow for Some: Easter Weather Twist Across Minnesota
Hey folks, let’s talk about what’s coming up weather-wise—it’s a bit of a mix, and you’ll definitely want to plan ahead if you’re doing anything outdoors through the Easter holiday and into early next week. We had a gorgeous Saturday across Minnesota, plenty of sunshine, and temperatures that felt just about right for mid-April. But, of course, Minnesota likes to keep us on our toes, and the weather’s about to take a turn.
Easter Sunday is expected to start off pretty pleasant. Skies will be mostly sunny in the morning, with highs climbing into the low 60s across much of the state. Great for egg hunts or brunch on the patio. But don’t let that sunshine fool you—change is on the way. By the afternoon and evening hours, clouds will begin to roll in from the south, and with them comes the rain. Showers are expected to develop after 6 PM, particularly affecting the southeastern parts of the state, including the Twin Cities. We’re talking about a decent soaking too—maybe half an inch to an inch in some localized spots.

Now, if you’re in northeastern Minnesota or up by the South Shore of Lake Superior, don’t be surprised if you see snowflakes mixing in overnight. Yep, snow. It’s that classic Minnesota spring curveball. Accumulations should be light—maybe over an inch in isolated spots—but enough to remind us winter hasn’t totally let go.
By Monday morning, most of the rain and snow will have pushed east, though clouds will hang on a bit. Temps will vary quite a bit across the state, with 40s hanging on in the east and some low 60s pushing back in from the west as skies start to clear. It’ll be a calm, partly sunny day overall—nice enough for spectators heading out to the Boston Marathon, with most of the rain holding off until after the event wraps up.
As we look into the week, Tuesday starts with the chance of a lingering shower, but things clear up later in the day. Wednesday, on the other hand, looks like a real gem—sunshine and temps nearing 70 in the metro. So if you’ve been waiting to get that yardwork in or just want a walk in the park, Wednesday’s your day.
By Thursday though, another round of rain moves in, cooling us back down. But hey, the good news? The long-range outlook for next weekend hints at drier and warmer conditions again. So hang in there. We’ve got a few soggy days ahead, but spring sunshine isn’t far behind.
Stay dry, stay cozy, and we’ll keep an eye on the skies for you.
