This time, Nixon was picked up by police in Port Melbourne, allegedly after posting threatening comments online, including naming a serving police officer and suggesting he was "on a mission to leave as many cops dead"—a disturbing statement that understandably triggered immediate action from authorities. Detectives, clad in bulletproof vests, arrested the 62-year-old, who reportedly pleaded with them to go easy due to a shoulder injury. He also claimed his Facebook account was hacked, but the damage, at least in the public eye, was already done.

He reportedly marketed them as player-signed memorabilia, each fetching over $575, with the addition of falsified authenticity documents.
To add to the chaos, Nixon’s court appearances have been anything but conventional. Representing himself, he clashed with the magistrate in February, proposing to call nearly 50 witnesses—a move described as unprecedented in over 30 years of criminal law practice. The judge even called it a "circus."
It doesn’t end there. He’s also caught up in financial woes, with a $40,000 debt potentially pushing him into bankruptcy. Despite denying wrongdoing, claiming he was duped by a fraudulent licensee, and stating the footballs were swapped without his knowledge, the mounting legal issues paint a picture of someone spiraling.
Nixon is also serving a community corrections order after a separate assault conviction—he punched and threw a package at a postal worker in 2022. This latest arrest only deepens the impression of a man whose past glories in the AFL world are now overshadowed by an unraveling personal and legal life.
