Suzuki's Last-Second Heroics Stun Panthers in OT Thriller
Wow, what a game! If you missed the Canadiens vs. Panthers matchup, you missed an absolute thriller. Montreal’s captain, Nick Suzuki, put on a show, scoring not just the game-tying goal with only 8.4 seconds left but also burying the overtime winner just 29 seconds into the extra frame. Talk about clutch!
The Bell Centre was electric as Suzuki’s late-game heroics lifted the Habs to a dramatic 3-2 victory over the Florida Panthers. And let’s not forget Josh Anderson, who opened the scoring for Montreal. Goalie Sam Montembeault also played a solid game, stopping 25 shots to keep the Canadiens in the fight.
Florida, on the other hand, was left frustrated after coming so close to sealing the win. They had played a strong defensive game, and up until the final seconds, it looked like they were going to walk away with the two points. But hockey is a game of inches, and that fluky bounce in the dying moments completely changed the script.

One of the most impressive storylines of the night? Lane Hutson. The young defenseman picked up three assists, bringing his season total to 57. That’s huge—he just passed Chris Chelios for second-most assists by a rookie defenseman in NHL history. This kid is the real deal.
As for Florida, they’ve now lost all four games against Montreal this season—a tough pill to swallow, especially as they chase the top spot in the Atlantic Division.
Things got even more heated thanks to Niko Mikkola, who was booed every time he touched the puck. Fans were still fired up after his slapshot at the end of Sunday’s game nearly hit David Savard. Safe to say, Montreal didn’t forget.
This game had everything—high intensity, late-game drama, and a rocking crowd. If this is a preview of what’s to come in the playoffs, we’re in for a wild ride.
Montreal now turns their attention to another big matchup as they prepare to host the Boston Bruins on Thursday. Meanwhile, the Panthers have to shake this one off quickly as they take on the Toronto Maple Leafs next.
But for now, this night belongs to Nick Suzuki and the Canadiens. What a game!
