Bangladesh Adds Extra T20I Against UAE Amid Pakistan Tour Uncertainty
So, here’s the latest buzz in the cricket world — and it's quite strategic. Bangladesh has decided to play an additional T20I match against the United Arab Emirates on May 21, extending their UAE tour from two games to three. This isn’t just a random scheduling change; it’s a well-thought-out move shaped by the uncertainty surrounding their upcoming series against Pakistan. Let me break it down for you.
Originally, Bangladesh was all set to tour Pakistan for a five-match T20I series starting May 25. But that plan hit a snag. With the Pakistan Super League (PSL) temporarily suspended due to rising political tensions between India and Pakistan, the cricket calendar got thrown into disarray. Even though a ceasefire has now calmed things down a bit, the PSL final got rescheduled to May 25 — the exact day the Bangladesh series was supposed to kick off.

So what did the PCB do? They proposed pushing the Bangladesh series back by two days, starting on May 27 instead and running through to June 5. Sounds simple enough, right? But here’s the catch — nothing is confirmed yet. The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) hasn’t received an official go-ahead from the Pakistan authorities, and some of the players are voicing concerns about security. The BCB has already said they won’t force anyone to go, which is fair and responsible.
In the meantime, rather than sit idle and wait, Bangladesh made a smart call to stay in Sharjah and keep playing. It’s practical. If the Pakistan tour does get the green light, the team can simply fly straight from the UAE. It’s all about keeping the players ready and maintaining momentum.
Now let’s talk action on the field. Bangladesh looked strong in the first T20I, securing a solid win by 27 runs. Parvez Hossain Emon was the star, smashing a century and helping the team put up 191 for 7. The UAE couldn’t quite keep up, folding at 164. Hasan Mahmud shone with the ball, taking 3 for 33, and overall the team looked sharp and focused.
This squad, led by Litton Das with Mahedi Hasan as his deputy, blends experience and young talent. With names like Mustafizur Rahman, known for his deadly accuracy, and rising stars like Tanzid Hasan, Bangladesh is clearly building depth while staying flexible amid global uncertainties.
So, as we wait to see whether that Pakistan tour materializes, one thing’s for sure — Bangladesh isn’t wasting any time. They’re staying in form, staying sharp, and keeping all doors open.
