London Knights Charge Into Memorial Cup Final with Electrifying Win Over Moncton
What a game we just witnessed! The London Knights have done it again, punching their ticket to the Memorial Cup final for the second year in a row. This time, they took down the Moncton Wildcats with an assertive 5-2 victory in Rimouski, Quebec — a game packed with speed, resilience, and sheer playoff passion.
From the very first puck drop, you could sense London’s urgency. Landon Sim got things rolling just four minutes into the game, capitalizing on a missed shot by Oliver Bonk that bounced perfectly for Sim to tuck it home. The Knights didn’t just lead on the scoreboard — they dominated the ice, outshooting Moncton 18-5 in that opening frame. Still, Moncton struck back late in the first on a power play, and just like that, it was 1-1 heading into the second.
But the Knights never let up. Easton Cowan and Denver Barkey — who’s returned with a vengeance after missing several playoff games with a lower-body injury — connected for a huge go-ahead goal in the second period. The Wildcats didn’t back down either, answering quickly with another power play goal to level things once more at 2-2.

That deadlock carried into the third, but it didn’t last long. At just 3:35 into the final period, Sam Dickinson made a slick backhand pass to Blake Montgomery, who buried the go-ahead goal. You could feel the momentum shift right then and there. From that point on, the Knights were in complete control.
Jacob Julien made a key faceoff win and found Jesse Nurmi to extend the lead, and then, in a perfectly executed play, Cowan sealed the deal with an empty-netter — his second point of the night. Cowan and Barkey each had a goal and an assist, and Julien tallied two helpers himself. Meanwhile, Oliver Bonk, who was a +4 on the night, continued to anchor the back end like a true pro.
In total, London outshot Moncton 37-23, killing off key penalties late and proving they’re not just talented, but tenacious. And it’s not just about one game — this group is stacked with talent and recognition to back it up. Five Knights players, along with Head Coach Dale Hunter, received OHL All-Star nods before the puck even dropped. Sam Dickinson landed on the 1st team, while Barkey, Cowan, Bonk, and Hunter made the 2nd. Goalie Austin Elliott was honored on the 3rd team, and his crease partner, Aleksei Medvedev, earned a spot on the OHL’s 1st All-Rookie team.
Now, the Knights set their sights on the ultimate prize. They’ll take on the Medicine Hat Tigers in Sunday’s Memorial Cup championship game. It all goes down at 7 p.m. ET, with coverage starting at 6:30 on 980 CFPL and streaming online.
One more game. One more chance at glory. London’s not just chasing a title — they’re chasing history. Let’s go Knights!
