Rain Halts Guardians-Twins Clash, Doubleheader Set for May 21
It was a frustrating day for baseball fans hoping to catch some action between the Cleveland Guardians and Minnesota Twins on Tuesday, May 20, 2025. Mother Nature had other plans, as both scheduled games were postponed due to persistent rain at Target Field in Minneapolis. What was supposed to be a full day of baseball — featuring the resumption of Monday night’s suspended game and the regular 6:40 p.m. contest — turned into a washout, quite literally.
Here’s what happened: Monday night’s game was halted with the Twins holding a narrow 2-1 lead in the top of the fourth inning. That game was supposed to be wrapped up earlier on Tuesday before the night’s scheduled clash. But with the weather refusing to cooperate, both games were pushed back. Now, the Guardians and Twins will try again on Wednesday, May 21. Action begins at 12:10 p.m. CT with the continuation of Monday’s suspended game. Once that wraps up, roughly 30 minutes later, they’ll move straight into the originally scheduled Wednesday game.

Target Field gates will open at 10:30 a.m. CT to allow fans in for the double dose of baseball. The Twins’ pregame activities for Weather Day and STEM Day will still go on as planned. Both games will be broadcast live on Twins.TV and the Treasure Island Baseball Network, making sure fans at home don't miss a pitch.
If you had tickets for the May 21 day game, you’re in luck — they’ll get you into both games. No extra steps needed. For those who had seats for the now-postponed May 20 night game, your tickets are valid for the rescheduled game on Saturday, September 20 at 1:10 p.m. CT, which is now part of a split doubleheader. You’ll still be able to attend the 6:10 p.m. CT game later that evening as scheduled. Just remember, no refunds for postponed games, but ticket exchanges are possible until September 18 via the Twins’ official site.
While rain delays are never ideal, this sets up a packed and exciting Wednesday for both clubs and their fans. With the Guardians looking to flip the momentum and the Twins hoping to hold their narrow lead and extend it into the second game, the doubleheader promises a full day of high-stakes baseball action. Let’s just hope the weather holds out this time.
