Red-Hot RCB Blaze Into IPL 2025 Final After Record-Breaking Win

Well, what a performance that was! Royal Challengers Bengaluru have finally done it — after years of near misses and heartbreaks, they’ve stormed into the IPL 2025 final, and they’ve done it in serious style. It’s their first appearance in the final since 2016, and the way they got there was nothing short of spectacular.

In Qualifier 1 against Punjab Kings, held at the Maharaja Yadavindra Singh Stadium in Mullanpur, RCB delivered a statement. First, their bowlers dismantled the PBKS batting lineup for just 101 runs in 14.1 overs. Suyash Sharma was electric, picking up 3 for 17, and Josh Hazlewood backed him up with a sharp 3 for 21. Punjab never really got going — they just couldn’t handle the pressure, and RCB capitalized on every mistake.

Then came the chase, and oh boy, did Phil Salt turn up the heat. He played like a man possessed — smashing a 23-ball half-century, his fastest in the IPL. Salt finished unbeaten on 56 off just 27 balls, with 7 boundaries and 2 towering sixes. Alongside him, Virat Kohli kept things calm and composed, and together, they crushed the chase in just 10 overs.

That’s right — RCB chased 102 in only 60 balls. Not only did they win, they created history. This victory is now the biggest margin of win in IPL playoffs when it comes to balls remaining — overtaking KKR’s 57-ball victory over SRH in the 2024 final. These are the kind of dominant performances you remember for years.

It’s also worth noting that this win puts RCB into their fourth IPL final — after appearances in 2009, 2011, and 2016. And history seems to be on their side: 11 of the last 14 teams that won Qualifier 1 have gone on to lift the trophy. Each of the last seven IPL champions came through this very path.

Punjab Kings, on the other hand, are not out of it just yet. They’ll get another shot in Qualifier 2 on June 1, against the winner of the Eliminator. But for now, all eyes are on RCB as they head to Ahmedabad for the big showdown on June 3 at the Narendra Modi Stadium.

This could finally be the year Bengaluru breaks their title drought. With a red-hot Salt, a focused Kohli, and bowlers clicking at the right time, RCB fans have every reason to believe — just one more win to go.
