2026 Ford Ranger Super Duty Redefines Mid-Size Muscle at a Surprising Price
Let’s talk about one of the biggest power moves coming from Ford – the 2026 Ranger Super Duty. If you’ve been keeping your eye on mid-size utes, this one is about to shake up the entire segment. The headline-grabber? It’s cheaper than a Raptor. Well, sort of.
Even though it won’t hit Australian showrooms until next year, Ford has already revealed key specs and pricing – and there’s a lot to digest. Kicking off from $82,990 , the Super Duty comes in three variants: Single Cab-Chassis, Super Cab-Chassis, and Double Cab-Chassis. But fair warning – that price doesn’t include a tray, so if you plan to actually haul stuff, expect to add another $5966 to $9376 for the tray setup.
But that added investment makes sense when you look at the payload capabilities. The Single Cab-Chassis boasts a massive 1982kg payload , while the Double Cab still gives you 1825kg . That’s thanks to a re-engineered suspension, heavy-duty axles, and a beefed-up GVM of 4500kg . On top of that, it can tow a hefty 4500kg braked , with a whopping 8000kg GCM . This is a serious workhorse.

What’s under the hood is just as impressive – a retuned 3.0-litre ‘Lion’ turbo-diesel V6 , pushing out 154kW and 600Nm . This engine isn’t just more powerful, it's smarter too, now cooled by a system that’s 25% more efficient than the standard Ranger V6. It meets EU6 heavy-duty emissions standards and features a manually cleanable diesel particulate filter , which is a welcome touch for tradies working in harsh conditions.
Then there are the mechanical upgrades: stronger drive shafts , locking front and rear differentials , a new dual-range transfer case , a 130-litre fuel tank , and 33-inch tyres – all sitting on a beefier ladder-frame chassis with heavy-duty underbody protection . Basically, this ute is built to take punishment and come back asking for more.
Visually, it shares some of the Raptor’s DNA – like the 1710mm track width – but stands apart with features like a steel front bumper and more rugged styling. Ground clearance? 299mm . Wading depth? 850mm . It’s built to tackle serious terrain.
You’ll be able to pick from five colours at launch: Arctic White, Seismic Tan, Shadow Black, Command Grey, and Aluminium Metallic. A sixth colour, Traction Green, will arrive a bit later.
Ford's mission with the Super Duty was clear – push the limits of what a mid-size ute can be. And honestly, they’ve nailed it. With its price tag sitting under the Ranger Raptor’s and the performance stats punching well above its class, the 2026 Ranger Super Duty is shaping up to be a tradie’s dream and an off-road enthusiast’s new best mate.
If you’re in the market for a ute that blends serious toughness with everyday practicality – and doesn’t break the six-figure mark – this one’s definitely worth a closer look.
