Today, I want to share some significant and exciting news from the world of progressive journalism — Tribune , one of Britain’s most iconic socialist publications, is entering a new era. After nearly nine decades in print, Tribune is not just continuing its legacy — it’s evolving into a stronger, bolder platform for the left under new ownership.

The magazine, which has stood for socialist values since 1937, is now under the stewardship of Mohamed Ali Harrath, Chairman of E Media Group, known for the Islam Channel. This shift signals not a break from Tribune ’s past but a renewed commitment to its mission: championing anti-fascism, anti-imperialism, peace, equality, and socialism. Harrath, a seasoned media voice and advocate for underrepresented perspectives, brings with him a vision of expansion and innovation, without compromising Tribune ’s editorial independence.

This move also sees the formation of an editorial advisory board that includes figures like Bhaskar Sunkara, the founder of Jacobin , and is chaired by Labour MP Jon Trickett. These are people deeply committed to the left's cause, ensuring Tribune remains grounded in its roots while opening new pathways for discourse and activism.

Under this new leadership, Tribune is set to increase its print frequency — which is huge news in a digital age — and branch out into new formats such as video series, podcasts, and newsletters. These efforts aim to bring democratic socialist ideas to a broader, more diverse audience both within the UK and internationally. The existing editorial team, led by Alex Niven, will stay in place, helping ensure that the publication's voice remains authentic and familiar to its loyal readers.

It’s honestly inspiring to see Tribune continue to thrive. This publication has featured some of the most powerful voices in British political and literary history — from Michael Foot and Aneurin Bevan to George Orwell and Doris Lessing. It’s been the beating heart of Britain’s left-wing intellectual life. Today, it reaches over 10,000 print subscribers each quarter and hundreds of thousands online every month.

In the words of Mohamed Ali Harrath, Tribune must now become a more powerful voice for the progressive left — for those inside and outside of the Labour Party, and especially for those who feel voiceless in modern politics. That’s the real promise here: creating a media home where truth, solidarity, and change take center stage.

Tribune needs your eyes, your ears, and your voice.

Let’s support independent, leftist media. Let’s support Tribune .
