Aces Break Losing Streak, Outlast Fever Despite Strong Showings from Boston and Clark
What a matchup we just witnessed between the Indiana Fever and the Las Vegas Aces at Michelob Ultra Arena. The game was packed with energy, momentum swings, and some standout performances — but in the end, it was the Aces who pulled away late, beating the Fever 89-81 and snapping their three-game skid.
Now, the story of the game wasn’t just about who won, but how it played out. Early on, Indiana looked in control. They built a double-digit lead in the second quarter, even going on a strong 12-2 run that felt like a real turning point — capped by Caitlin Clark hitting a deep three over A’ja Wilson. That was a sigh of relief for Clark, who had been ice cold from beyond the arc over the last couple of games.

At halftime, the Fever held a solid six-point lead, and Aliyah Boston was simply dominant. She had 18 points already and was 10-for-15 from the field by game’s end, finishing with 26 points and 10 rebounds. Clark, though struggling with her shot — especially from distance, going just 1-of-10 from three — still managed a double-double: 19 points and 11 assists. That was her 18th career double-double, by the way.
But here's where the story turned. After leading by as much as 10, Indiana entered the fourth quarter up just three. That’s when Las Vegas flipped the switch. A'ja Wilson, who had a rough first half, poured in eight points early in the fourth and helped fuel a blistering 16-2 run that turned the game completely around. Wilson ended with 24 points and seven boards, nearly all of that coming after halftime. Jackie Young and Chelsea Gray stepped up big too, combining for 37 points.
The Fever managed to tie things up one last time late in the game, but the Aces answered fast and hard, going on a 15-6 run to put it away for good. That fourth quarter run was just too much for Indiana to stop.
This loss drops the Fever to 6-7 on the season and marks their 16th consecutive defeat to Las Vegas. It’s a tough pill to swallow, especially after showing so much promise through three quarters. And for Clark, while the assist numbers continue to impress, her shooting slump — now 1-for-17 from deep over the last two games — remains a concern.
They’ll need to regroup quickly, though. The Fever head to Seattle next, where a loss would match their longest losing streak of the season. It’s gut-check time for Indiana, and especially for Clark, who’s clearly still finding her rhythm in the WNBA grind.
But credit where it’s due — the Aces showed why they’re still one of the most dangerous teams in the league when they lock in. That fourth quarter was a statement.
