Families Flock to Celebrate Summer Reading at Brevard Library Bash
Wow—what a day it was at the 2025 Reading Kick Off Party at the Catherine Schweinsberg Rood Central Brevard Library in Cocoa! I’m still smiling thinking about it. The energy, the excitement, and most of all, the enthusiasm for reading filled the air as families from all around Brevard County came together on May 31 to kick off the summer with something truly special. This wasn’t just any library event—it was a full-blown celebration, and it was completely free .
Kids and parents alike were treated to a vibrant day packed with activities. One of the biggest hits? The Black Light Silent Disco . Picture this: kids (and yes, even some parents!) grooving with glowing headphones, each tuned to their own preferred music station under dazzling black lights. It was a unique blend of quiet and chaos—in the best way possible.

There was face painting , rock painting , a bubble zone courtesy of Fabulous Foam Parties, and even a fun and mysterious escape room that challenged young minds in the most entertaining way. And let’s not forget the live entertainment— Mr. Richard brought his charm and musical talent to the stage, keeping the energy upbeat and the kids fully engaged.
