Fox Cancels ‘The Cleaning Lady’ and ‘Alert: Missing Persons Unit’ Amid Fan Shock
Hey everyone, I’ve got some bittersweet news coming out of the TV world—Fox has officially canceled both The Cleaning Lady and Alert: Missing Persons Unit . Yep, you heard that right. Two of the most emotionally charged and fan-loved dramas are not coming back for another season, and it’s left a lot of us wondering what could have been.

Let’s start with Alert: Missing Persons Unit . This show had already weathered some big changes, especially in Season 3 when it lost one of its leads, Nikki Batista, played by Dania Ramirez. Her death in episode two really shook things up. What followed was a gripping ride of emotional recovery and high-stakes investigations led by Scott Caan as Jason Grant and the rest of the MPU team. The season finale, which has now turned into the series finale, aired on May 27 and left us on a serious cliffhanger. One of the characters, Wayne Pascal, seemed to be hiding something big. Her secretive message—“I’m in @ MPU. They don’t suspect a thing.”—suggested something deeper and darker was just around the corner. Sadly, we’ll never get to see how that plays out in a fourth season.
And then there’s The Cleaning Lady . This show broke ground with its Southeast Asian-led cast and its powerful storytelling. Élodie Yung led as Thony De La Rosa, a former surgeon forced into a morally gray world of crime to save her son. After losing its male lead, Adan Canto, to cancer, the series underwent some creative changes but couldn’t quite regain its earlier momentum. Despite its dedicated fan base, Fox pulled the plug after four seasons, with the final episode airing on June 3. And it left just as many loose ends, leaving fans without closure.
Fox made the announcement on June 6, and honestly, the timing of it—just days after both shows aired their finales—felt like a gut punch. According to reports, both shows were near the bottom of the network’s ratings board, and in today’s cutthroat TV landscape, that pretty much seals your fate. Even though Fox appreciated the teams behind the shows—including big names like Jamie Foxx, Carla Kettner, and Miranda Kwok—it ultimately came down to numbers.
It’s frustrating because Alert was just starting to reshape itself into a buddy-cop dynamic that worked, and The Cleaning Lady still had a lot of heart and depth left to explore. While there’s always the hope of future revival or streaming platform pickups, as of now, both stories are unfinished chapters.
For fans like me, this one stings. We invested in the characters, the twists, the emotional arcs—and now, we’re left wondering what could have been.
